Today, former President Jimmy Carter celebrated his 95th birthday. Carter served as president from 1977 to 1981 succeeding Gerald Ford and preceding Ronald Regan. The “peanut farmer from Georgia” is now the longest living U.S. president in history, eclipsing George H.W. Bush who passed away last year at the age of 94.

Despite the fact that President Carter’s presidency is generally looked upon as a failure, his post-presidential career has been widely celebrated, especially for his charity work with Habitat for Humanity. Many people took to social media to wish the 39th President a Happy Birthday.
