One of ICE’s most wanted fugitives, Darrick Bell, was arrested by federal agents on Wednesday. Bell has been on the run for over two years for his alleged connection with a wide-scale human trafficking and narcotics operation that he conducted out of the Victory Inn Motel in Detroit, Michigan.

Bell had escaped from authorities when over 200 law enforcement agents busted the Victorian Inn Motel in January 2017. Fourteen women were rescued during the raid.

On Wednesday night, Bell was apprehended at the Econo Lodge hotel in Monroe. Agents found $12,000 in cash, cocaine, and other drugs in Bell’s hotel room. A woman named Rachel Ayers was also arrested with Bell.

Bell and five other defendants allegedly drugged women and forced them with threats and coercion to perform sex acts. They are charged with trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, forced labor, money laundering, extortion collection and conspiracy, among other charges.

A spokesperson for ICE said, “The women were allegedly exploited and abused by forcing them — through threats, coercion and isolation — to work as commercial sex workers for the financial benefit of Bell and other defendants, while a broad range of illegal drugs were allegedly available in other parts of the motel.”

Bell had altered his appearance by gaining weight, growing a beard, and hair. Bell faces life in prison if he is convicted of the charges. ICE, Homeland Security Investigations agents and deputies with the U.S. Marshals are still searching for those who allegedly helped Bell evade authorities.
