Access Hollywood co-host Mario Lopez is getting some serious backlash for expressing his opinion about parenting. In an interview with Candace Owens, Lopez stated, “My God, if you’re 3 years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way, and think you’re a boy or a girl, or whatever the case may be… I think it’s dangerous, as a parent, to make that determination.”

But some people probably saw the headline of PragerU’s post which reads, “Parents Should Not Raise Their Kids As Transgender,” and did not even bother to listen to what Lopez said.

Lopez and his wife Courtney have three children ages 8, 5. and 3 weeks.

Some people were offended by Lopez’s statement even calling for him to be fired as host of Access Hollywood. The TV personality publicly apologized for his comment on CNN. “The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” Lopez said. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”

Queer Eye star Karamo Brown expressed his disappointment in Lopez.

Others took it even further calling for Lopez to be fired from his position. Yahoo News added to the outrage with their misleading headline: Mario Lopez: It’s dangerous for parents to support transgender kids.

It’s not surprising that Lopez was seen with full security beside him on the set of Access Hollywood the last few days.
