President Donald Trump is about to restore the United States funding for the World Health Organization (WHO), a month after it was announced that the funding would be stopped. Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson reported a letter that outlines a plan for reinstating the organization’s funding. If the letter addressed to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom is true, then the US funding for WHO is not going to go back to the way it was before it was suspended. It would only match what China is contributing to the organization.

The United States has been the main source of funding for the health organization. Annual funding given by the US government to the organization amounted to $400 million. China, on the other hand, provides around a tenth of what the US government gives. The letter states that should China increase its funding for WHO, then the American government might consider matching that.

President Trump rightfully suspended the US funding for WHO after the UN organization, which is supposedly meant to coordinate a global response to health problems, have repeatedly tried to protect China and be a mouthpiece for its actions against the Wuhan virus. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom continuously praised the actions taken by the Chinese communist party even as China covered up the extent of the pandemic.

The Who also went out against the enforcement of travel restrictions saying that it was racist to do so. They also promoted the idea early on that the virus could not spread from one person to another. The organization also tried to prevent Taiwan from joining in the global response to fight the pandemic.

In fact, the World Health Organization has proven itself to be blatantly pro-China that many no longer believe what it is saying. Hopefully, the actions taken by President Trump will cause some real changes within WHO.
