During a White House press briefing, President Donald Trump hinted that Communist China might not be revealing their real number of COVID-19 deaths.

Though trying to keep a diplomatic tone, the commander-in-chief stated that “We did not receive that, but their numbers seemed to be a little bit on the light side, and I’m being nice when I say that relative to what we witnessed and what was reported.”

The president implied that China might have under-reported their death toll as the US surpasses the 4,000 recorded Chinese deaths. Trump’s statements came as a response to Bloomberg’s classified report.

However, the president repeated that there was no bad blood between the administration and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He even noted that the country plans to purchase billions of farming products from China.

Trump continued to say that both leaders acknowledge the origins of the virus and that they were not making a “big deal out of it.” Finally, the president believed that China’s aid to other coronavirus torn countries is something that is truly positive.

On Wednesday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to more than 200,0000, and the number of related deaths had also surpassed 5,000. On Wednesday alone, the country listed more than 1,000 fatalities. The projections were not looking up either. According to the media outlet, USA Today, experts concluded that the number of coronavirus deaths will double and could reach up to 2,000 fatalities per day during mid-April. Even President Trump somberly warned that up to 240,000 Americans might possibly die as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York City, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic also nears 2,000 reported deaths. Mayor Bill De Blasio has already warned residents as the city nears the April 5 “demarcation line” or a period in which the region could expect a surge of COVID-19 cases. Worldwide, the virus had already infected nearly 1 million people and claimed more than 49,000 deaths.

In fact, the country listed its youngest fatality on Wednesday. In a statement from Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, the state confirmed that a six-week-old infant died as a result of coronavirus infection. The baby’s results came on Tuesday, which prompted the governor to remind residents that the country is dealing with a virus that has no mercy and attacks our most fragile ones.

Lamont also urged all residents to follow the administration’s health guidelines to stay at home and observe social distancing. He also reminded younger people to observe such health precautions, warning that they are not “invincible.”

To mitigate the increasing numbers of new cases, the states of Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Nevada also issued an extended stay at home order.

The president believes that it is best for states to decide on what safety precautions to implement, citing that each state is different. “There are some states that don’t have much of a problem,” Trump told the Associated Press.
