After 26 years as an advice columnist at Elle magazine, E. Jean Carroll was fired from her position near the end of 2019.

“Because Trump ridiculed my reputation, laughed at my looks, & dragged me through the mud, after 26 years, ELLE fired me. I don’t blame Elle. It was the great honor of my life writing ‘Ask E. Jean,’” Carroll wrote on Twitter.

The 76-year-old made appearances on CNN in June of 2019 to talk about an incident that allegedly occurred in the fall of 1995 or the spring of 1996, in a dressing room at Bergforf Goodman’s in New York City. Carroll said she bumped into Trump as she was leaving and he was coming into the store. Trump was there to buy a gift for his girlfriend so she helped him. Carroll claimed Trump sexually assaulted her in the dressing room, by pulling down her tights, and pinning her against the wall. She said she was shocked and “stunned,” but her reaction was “to laugh.”

Carroll told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota she had difficulty using the word “rape,” but that it was a “fight” and it was “against her will.”

She wrote about the alleged incident in her book “What Do We Need Men For? A Modest Proposal,” released in July 2019. An excerpt of the alleged assault was also published in New York magazine.

Carroll voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and she donated money to Obama’s election, but said she’s not political.

President Trump said, “I never met this person in my life. She is trying to sell a new book- that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section. No pictures? No surveillance? No video? No reports? No sales attendants around?? I would like to thank Bergdorf Goodman for confirming they have no video of footage of any such incident because it never happened.”

Carroll filed a suit against Trump for defamation in New York State Court in November. Her lawyer Roberta Kaplan, had the wool dress Carroll was wearing at the time of the alleged assault tested for DNA. Trump’s lawyers were served notice to submit his DNA sample by March 2 to see if it matches the male’s DNA found on the dress.

Earlier in February, Trump’s legal counsel argued the case be delayed until another case of assault and defamation can proceed.

Tell us what you think. Should Trump be forced to submit his DNA for testing? If it matches the DNA on the dress will that prove he raped her?
