House Speaker Pelosi And Democrats Outraged About Viral Video, Demand Facebook and Twitter Remove It
President Trump shared a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tearing up his State of the Union speech every time he would honor special guests. The video clip, shared to Facebook and Twitter, is titled, “Powerful American Stories RIPPED to Shreds By Nancy Pelosi.”
Pelosi demanded Twitter and Facebook remove the video, but they both refused, and within a matter of days, the video reached over 11 million views since Trump posted it on Thursday, leaving Pelosi and the Democrats furious.
Drew Hammill, a representative for Pelosi, contacted Facebook and Twitter requesting the removal of the video.
Facebook spokesman Andy Stone replied, “Sorry, are you suggesting the President didn’t make those remarks, and the speaker didn’t rip the speech?”

Hamill replied, “What planet are you living on? This is deceptively altered. Take it down.”
Facebook confirmed that the video does not violate its policies.
The chief creative officer of Turning Point USA, Benny Johnson, who made the video, defended it on Twitter by stating, “Here is how we made it: We took real lines from the Presiden’s State of the Union Speech and then used a real footage of speaker Pelosi tearing up Trump’s speech as a transition for each clip.” Johnson concluded by stating, “That’s it. Real events that really happened in a timeline.”
The latest fake video of Speaker Pelosi is deliberately designed to mislead and lie to the American people, and every day that these platforms refuse to take it down is another reminder that they care more about their shareholders’ interests than the public’s interests.— Drew Hammill (@Drew_Hammill) February 7, 2020
President and TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk issued his statement: “This is cancel culture coming to Congress. Our Turning Point USA production team had the brilliant idea to make a visually moving clip of what Speaker Pelosi was ripping up when she tore up the president’s speech. “There was absolutely nothing deceptive about the video. We’ve been surprised, and frankly horrified, by the many Democrats calling for censorship including from the speaker’s own office. Thankfully, many patriots have come out and reposted the video including the president. Needless to say, we will not be pulling the video and the Speaker’s misguided attempts at silencing us have had the exact opposite effect.”

Social media platforms are a place where people come for news & information.
They need to have certain standards.
Falsity has never been part of our 1st Amendment tradition. https://t.co/dwiDeKNd3D
The Democrats were so proud of Pelosi after ripping up the speech so why are they so upset about it now?
The people applauding Nancy Pelosi for ripping up the #SOTU speech would be outraged if Donald Trump had done it to one of her speeches.— Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) February 11, 2020
Also, the people outraged at Pelosi ripping up the SOTU would be cheer-tweeting "SAVAGE!" if Trump had done it to a Democrat's speech. pic.twitter.com/5EHYuevCkp
This video is clearly another deceptive effort by @realDonaldTrump to mislead and manipulate the American people.— Rep. Veronica Escobar (@RepEscobar) February 7, 2020
Hey @jack, show your commitment to cut down on the misinformation corroding our nation and take down this fake video. https://t.co/C2uAFPfWzL
This video is doctored. It has been up, and pinned to the President's page, for nearly a day.— Rep. Don Beyer (@RepDonBeyer) February 7, 2020
Trump posted it to deceive Americans about @SpeakerPelosi's actions and record.
If I posted a doctored video it would be a clear violation House Rules.@Twitter should take this down. https://t.co/zTc2OHntQ5
