Trump is making school lunches great again!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced its plans to reverse Michelle Obama’s 2010 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. The new plan will allow schools and school districts to decide what meals to serve to students.

The plan was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the former First Lady’s birthday.

The School Nutrition Association (SNA), which represents 57,000 members in the school food service industry, has long said Obama’s lunch plan was unworkable, overly prescriptive and resulted in higher costs, food waste, and reduced student lunch participation.

“Schools and school districts continue to tell us that there is still too much food waste and that more common-sense flexibility is needed to provide students nutritious and appetising meals. We listened and now we’re getting to work,” said Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue in a statement.

Over the years, students posted photos of their unappetizing school lunches on social media with the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama.

Students and faculty complained for years, but nothing was ever done because it was Obama’s signature achievement
