Key Democratic figure Stacy Abrams is accused of voter fraud after a group that she had co-founded had allegedly encouraged non-Georgia residents to register at the state’s run-off elections.

In an email by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, he accused Abram’s organization called The New Georgia Project of encouraging non-residents to vote for the upcoming January 5 elections. The organization immediately denied Raffensperger’s claim. In an email press release, the group called the accusation both “tired” and “false.” They also continued by saying that they have placed legitimate efforts to allow eligible residents to vote.

In another statement by Nse Ufot, Executive Director of the New Georgia Project, he called the accusations a “desperate attempt” to smear their organizations and “scare” eligible Georgian voters to register for the upcoming elections. He claimed that with the record-breaking number of voter turn-out, Ufot insisted that the organization will remain undeterred.

The organization’s executive director even suggested that Raffensperger might have more sinister intentions. In fact, Ufot claimed that The New Georgia Project’s message of inclusivity and opportunity serves as a threat against Republicans. “The timing is not accidental,” he claimed. Moreover, he vowed that the organization will continue to encourage eligible voters to register before the Dec. 7 deadline, as well as encourage people to vote for lawmakers who will “‘truly represent them.”

The New Georgia Project’s statement came after the Secretary of State launched an investigation on allegations that certain Democratic parties encourage non-Georgia residents to register and vote for the upcoming run-off elections. In addition, Raffensperger also included another group called America Votes. He alleged that the organization was sending mail-in ballot applications for people who had already left or moved from their homes since 1994.

Raffesnperger also warned non-residents who attempted to vote, adding that doing so will constitute a felony offense. He also sent a message to third-party organizations, noting that their activities should be considered as “despicable.” He alleged these organizations of encouraging college kids to register and commit a crime, without any regard for its possible consequences. Raffesnperger concluded by saying that any organization that was caught encouraging illegal voting will be held responsible.

Other organizations on Raffesnperger’s list include Vote Forward, and Operation New Voter Registration Georgia.

Just last month, Abrams declared that they have received over 900,000 mail-in ballot requests for the run-off elections.

The allegations come as no surprise, given that several Democratic supporters have shared their intention to move to Georgia to help Georgian candidates, Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

Dem supporter and California based political activist Manny Yekutiel claimed that they are flooded with questions on how Democratic supporters can move and register for the run-off elections. Even failed Democratic Presidential nominee Andrew Yang also expressed his intent to move to Georgia and help with the campaign.
