Aging singer Bette Midler wants doctors and other health workers to sue the United States Supreme court over its recent ruling against Governor Cuomo’s persecution of religious groups in New York which was violating the First Amendment rights of the groups. Midler claims that religious services are super spreader events that would place a burden on all healthcare workers.

Midler pretended to be incredulous that the Supreme Court would allow people to gather to perform religious service. She shared her indignation on Twitter. “Packing the Supreme Court really works, but for whom? Why do the religious get to gather in super spreader groups, if they will sicken the rest of us? And when they get sick why should any stressed out health-care worker be forced to look after them? Doctors and nurses should sue,” she posted.

Like other leftists, Midler did not mention the Black Lives Matter protests and riots which were more dangerous and did more to spread the virus than any religious gathering. The protests brought together thousands of people from all over the country without any social distancing. She also expressed her support for virtual religious services, which means restricting the religious practice of some people, which would go against religious freedom.

The ruling of the Supreme Court is a major victory for religious groups in the state of New York, particularly the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Orthodox Jewish synagogues there. They have been persecuted by Governor Cuomo who was also dismissive of the ruling, saying that it was irrelevant.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, whose appointment and confirmation caused so much confirmation sided with the majority for the vote. Midler was also very vocal in opposing Barrett’s appointment to the highest court in the land. As expected, Midler attacked Barrett’s religious beliefs.

“#AmyConeyBarret, on Board of a school that won’t allow in a student with a gay parent, has been groomed for decades, the ultimate product of #theKochs, #TheFederalists, #TheHeritageFoundation. You working stiffs mean nothing to them. 5 days for one justice and no relief for you,” she tweeted back in October.
