The Senate Democrats will be boycotting the Judiciary Committee’s vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett that has been scheduled for Thursday. According to a report, the boycott would be an act of protest against President Trump’s appointment of Barret. That comes after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has announced that the full Senate will be voting to confirm Barret to the Supreme Court next Monday.

“We will be voting to confirm Justice-to-be Barrett next Monday, and I think that will be another signature accomplishment in our effort to put on the courts, the federal courts, men and women who believe in a quaint notion that the job of a judge is to actually follow the law,” McConnell told reporters. He has also announced that he has secured enough votes in the Senate to confirm Barret’s appointment. The Republicans have a 53-47 majority in the Senate, and so far, only 3 GOP senators have opposed Barrett’s confirmation. That ensures her confirmation as well as the conservative hold on the Supreme Court for years.

McConnell has praised Barret. He said that during the hearings for her appointment, she had shown the “sheer intellectual horsepower that the American people deserve to have on the Supreme Court.” The Democrats have no recourse left to block the appointment. Their only chance is that if a few additional GOP senators decide to vote against her confirmation, there is little chance of that happening. All they can do now is throw tantrums and show such immature behavior as doing a boycott.

The Democrats and their media allies have tried to smear the judge and even her family. She has been branded as a racist because she has adopted children from Haiti. She has also been attacked for her religious beliefs, with the Democrats claiming that her decisions will be affected by the fact that she is a devout Catholic. There have been other disgusting attacks against Barret and her family, but none of that has affected her and in fact, many Americans were impressed by her intellect and the calm, cool way in which she answered the questions of the senators, no matter how ridiculous those were.
