After their slew of attacks on President Donald Trump, former first lady Michelle Obama made another jab at the current administration, this time using her own media platform.

On Wednesday, Obama discussed her disdain with the current administration in her new Spotify podcast. During the discussion, the former first lady lamented that Trump’s hypocrisy is giving her a “low-grade depression.”

Obama said that oftentimes, she would wake up in the middle of the night because she was either too worried, “or there’s heaviness.” To cope with her anxieties, she would divert her attention to working out. However, Obama claimed that there were certain points during the quarantine when she felt too low to get up.

Trying to appeal to her audience, Obama claimed that, like most people, she would go through periods of emotional highs and lows, which some people would normally feel. She claimed that these worries and anxieties were not a result of conflicts in her personal life. Instead, Obama claimed that her depression was caused by something more political, es[pecially for people who had a strong sense of empathy.

The former first lady said that she tried to deal with it by hitting off the treadmill. She also believed that this unusual experience was a result of not being in tune with her body and mind or searching for something that is more spiritually fulfilling. Going through some sort of self-diagnosis, Obama said, “I know that I am dealing with some form of low-grade depression.” She blamed Trump for her psychological well being, adding that it was “not just because of the quarantine, but because of the racial strife, and just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it.”

She went on to say that her family, including former U.S. President Barack Obama, had helped her cope with her mental health issues. She also added that she would often reach out to people, including her loved ones, whenever she felt down.

Finally, Obama advised people to accept and recognize that they are in a “bad place” so that they can find their way out of it. She noted that it is important for people who are going through depression to stay connected to people who bring them joy.

For Trump’s entire re-election period, the Obamas had openly expressed their disdain about the current administration. In fact, this is not the first time that the former first lady had used her podcast to criticize Trump.

During her first episode, she brought her husband for an interview. In the conversation, the Obamas claimed that oftentimes young people only realized what kind of government they had is when something goes terribly wrong. Michelle claimed that if only people were paying attention, they would realize that the country now has a public health system which doesn’t take care of its own people.

Finally, her husband claimed that the Trump administration is giving Americans a “pretty good lesson right now.”
