Steven Pinker, a professor of psychology at Harvard University, said that the clamor for the reopening of the economy and of society comes from the delusional belief of Christians in life after death. He basically argued that atheists who don’t believe in the existence of heaven or hell are so much better because they are concerned with safety in this life. He said that Christians live riskier lives because they don’t really value their lives.

Pinker’s tweet was a response to an article that was published by the Washington Post. The article examined the studies which revealed that Democrats took the virus a lot more seriously than the Republicans. They are also more likely to support the restrictive lockdown measures that are for the most part, imposed by governors who are Democrats. The article mentions that the belief in the afterlife changes the way that people will react to life-threatening events.

Pinker is arguing that atheists are so much better than Christians, who are made stupid by their religions because of their belief in the afterlife. It is an attempt to smear the people who are calling for the opening up of the economy and society.

Leftists like Pinker like to believe that the people protesting the lockdown measures are stupid and misinformed. They are refusing to accept the fact that people are just believers in freedom and they prefer to be free rather than accept the restrictions being imposed by governments that are increasingly becoming authoritarian. Supporters of the restrictive lockdowns refuse to see the damage that the overly strict restrictions are doing to the economy and to the lives of ordinary Americans. Pinker and the other leftist academics will not think twice about smearing the ordinary Americans who just want to go back to work.
