n a livestream with famed TV host Oprah Winfrey, actor Idris Elba weighed in on his main takeaway from the coronavirus pandemic.

During the interview, billionaire Oprah Winfrey suggested that the best thing about the ongoing pandemic was that it “has the possibility of bringing us together.” The tv host went on to claim how one week could make drastic changes that no one would have thought of.

The actor who has tested positive from the coronavirus believed that it was a way of the Earth to respond to human activity, which he likened to an infection. “Our world has been taking a kicking,” Elba said, adding that it was only the planet’s reaction to the human race.

He then continued by saying that the main lesson from the pandemic is that “a virus has been created that is going to slow us down and ultimately make us think differently about our world and ourselves.” Bizarrely, the actor said that for so long, the Earth has been crying for help and telling humans that what they do damages the environment.

Moreover, he added that the virus was a way for the Earth to say, “I’ll get rid of you,’ as any organism would do is try and get rid of an infection, and maybe this is it for the world.”

Winfrey responded that people often regard coronavirus as “physical.” She also agreed to Elba’s statement that the virus was meant to teach people something about humanity, and it is all up to the people to rise from the challenge.

The video was a part of Winfrey’s Apple TV+ series Oprah Talks: COVID-19. In the same show, Elba and his wife previously revealed that they had been diagnosed with the deadly virus.
