Left-winged media, the New York Times wrote a misleading tweet that aims to give a false impression that President Donald Trump and his administration do not want to provide hospitals with additional ventilators they will need to treat COVID-19 patients. On Sunday, the president held a conference call to governors to add additional guidelines about the ongoing war against the COVID-19 pandemic. In his statement, the president suggested that the states should procure respirators and ventilators rather than wait for the federal government to supplement the machines. By doing so, the states would be able to make the process and purchase faster and more efficient. Trump had also assured that the administration “will be backing you.” As the president’s full statement read: “Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment—try getting it yourselves. We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself.” While the administration attempts to provide support for those who have been affected by the virus, at least eight writers from the New York Times went on to spread misleading tweets. The post says that Trump does not want to provide additional federal funding for such hospital equipment. Julia Bosman, the media outlet’s national correspondent, shared NYT’s article, which talks about Trump’s advice to limit gatherings of not more than ten people. Bosman took particular attention to Trump’s “Try getting it yourself,” quote as he referred to the need for additional ventilators. She went on to dismiss the entire statement by writing “wow.”

The misleading tweet had also been shared by another left-winged media, CNN, and made it to the headline of the Huffington Post. Another social media user confronted Bosman, asking her why she refused to disclose the president’s entire statement. The journalist dissed the voter, telling her that Trump was simply repeating himself.

Mara Gay, a member of NYT’s editorial board, also shared the misleading quote, without providing the real context of the president’s announcement.

While the writers received major backlash for sharing deceptive quotes, the media outlet is yet to retract their comments. Listen:

The left-winged media outlet also published numerous articles that highlight the president’s seeming “incompetence” to handle the situation. In another recent coronavirus update, NYT accuses Trump of prioritizing the “stock market” and “media coverage” rather than focusing on the real issues, one of which is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

NYT also went on to claim that the president has dismissed increasing concerns over the outbreak, which in turn made it more difficult to follow the chain of command.
