Rep. Ilhan Omar has once again, tied the knot.

The firebrand lawmaker officially announced that she had married political consultant and her chief fundraiser, Tim Mynett. For some time, allegations that the two are having an affair circulated in the media.

Then, the Democrat posted on Instagram, saying, “From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed.” She also added a black and white photo of the couple. On Thursday, the two were spotted at a Washington based Mediterranean restaurant.

The couple has since denied the alleged affair. However, the media outlet, The Post published an article citing that Mynett had walked out on his previous marriage with his wife, Dr. Beth Mynett, after admitting that he had an affair with the lawmaker. A court document cites that “The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when the Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar.”

Omar had recently made headlines after the FBI released a report which claimed that she had married her brother to obtain a green card visa. Federal agents have raised concerns that the lawmaker and her previous marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who had been identified as a British citizen, were incestuous. Allegations surfaced that Omar had only used the union as a way to study in America.

The entire tirade began when at just 19 years old, the Democrat had married Ahmed Hirsi, who was then 22. By the next year, the couple divorced after having two children together. Then, in 2003, Omar, 26, was again married to her alleged brother Elmi, 23.

After a few years, Elmi and Omar have also separated, and the latter remarried Hirsi. While second chances might have worked for some, Omar and Hirsi’s marriage did not.

Reports have circulated that Hirsi had made a shocking discovery after walking into Omar’s apartment and catching the two canoodling in their pajamas. To keep the incident from going public, the lawmaker had allegedly paid thousands of dollars to the Hirsi family to remain quiet.

Before he caught the two, Hirsi already had speculations about the alleged affair. In an explosive article from the Daily Mail, the media outlet claimed that Omar tried to shrug it off, telling her then-husband that “he was paranoid.”

Omar had also insisted that Hirsi should stay in Minnesota with their three children while she stayed in Washington with Mynett. The incident had made Hirsi incredibly “angry and humiliated.”

If the allegations over her incestuous marriage were proven true, Rep. Omar faces marriage fraud which can put her up to eight years behind bars, as well as eight instances of perjury, immigration fraud, federal student loan fraud, federal tax fraud, and even bigamy.
