Disgraced former actor and noted liar Jussie Smollett is doubling and tripling down on his claims that he did not lie about an attack earlier this year that he reported as a “hate crime”. He is now countersuing City of Chicago after they sued him to reclaim the $130,000 in overtime it cost to investigate his falsely reported case. He is also suing the two brothers who he paid to attack him so he could make up his publicity-seeking story.

The lawsuit claims that the Chicago Police Department purposefully ignored other possible suspects, specifically white suspects like he reported. It goes on to claim that the Osundairo brothers, his friends who he paid to attack him, lied in their confession about their role in the alleged hoax “at the 11th hour”. This, Smollett’s lawsuit theorizes, was to save themselves from prosecution. It goes on to claim that he wanted to talk to the in secret only because they were supposed to bring him illegal herbal steroids from Nigeria. Finally, he claims that “to this day” he does not know who attacked him.

This all stems from a January 2019 incident where Smollett reported that two “light skinned” people beat him and tied a rope around his neck while shouting pro-President Trump rhetoric. The reports were later found to be a hoax concocted by the actor but Chicago prosecutor Kim Foxx refused to press charges against the actor for his false police report. Many celebrities and politicians initially came to Smollett’s defense and attacked the right with calls of racism before going quiet once the story was debunked.
