Department of Homeland Secretary Kevin McAleenan was interrupted by protesters at Georgetown Law Center when he tried to speak to the audience about immigration policy and laws. McAleenan made three attempts to speak in front of the crowd, but was rudely stopped because of the protesters who continued to shout.

As the keynote speaker, McAleenan was expected to answer questions from the audience, which was mostly made up of immigration policy experts, advocates, and attorneys.

Migration Policy Institute President Andrew Selee said he regrets that McAleenan was unable to give his speech. Selee stated, “In a democracy, it is important to hear from all sides on public policy issues, including from those who are instrumental in developing and implementing policy, whether or not we agree with them.”

Watch:

The protesters are proud that they interrupted McAleenan. They did not wish to ask questions in an appropriate manner but rather cause chaos.
