Dr. Anthony Fauci made a statement which basically backs up in-person voting for the upcoming elections. In an interview with National Geographic, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases did not dismiss the possibility of voting in the old manner, which basically destroys the argument of the Democrats who have been pushing for mail-in voting.

“I think if carefully done according to the guidelines, there’s no reason that I can see why that not be the case,” Dr. Fauci said. “For example, when you look at going to a grocery store now in many regions and counties and cities that are doing it correctly, they have “X”s every six or more feet. And it says, Don’t leave this spot until the person in front of you left their spot. And you can do that, if you go and wear a mask, if you observe the physical distancing, and don’t have a crowded situation, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do that,” he added.

Fauci explained that there should be no reason why people cannot vote in person. The Democrats have been pushing for mail-in voting because they claim that it would be too risky for people because of the pandemic. There are fears, however that the mail-in voting system can be used for widespread cheating in the elections. This early, there are already signs that there are irregularities happening. President Donald Trump is opposed to the widespread use of mail-in voting because he knows that it would be used by his opponents.

Fauci’s statement deals a major blow to the mail-in voting advocacy particularly because even the Democrats say they trust him. Joe Biden has said that he would retain the services of Fauci once he wins the presidency. He claims that he will call the doctor just minutes after he wins the election. Now that Fauci has come against mail-in voting, it remains to be seen if the Democrats will start attacking him and his reputation as well. They claim to believe him mostly because he seems to have a misunderstanding with the White House and they see it as an opportunity to undermine the President.
