In an interview with Rep. Ralph Norman on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Sunday, the South Carolina congressman said that the Democrats have “blood on their hands” after the caucus deliberately blocked the GOP’s plan to provide financial relief for small businesses.

During the interview, Norman was asked about the Democrats efforts to block the $250 billion that was meant as a small business loan program and targets companies that have been heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Republican lawmaker, “We had an attempt by Republicans in the Senate to pass a $250 billion extension to the small business loans clean bill.” However, despite their good cause to pull up the economy and save millions of jobs, the Democrats blocked the program.

The show’s host, Joel Pollack, asked Norman if he thinks that there is a chance for the program to be implemented. Norman responded that the $250 billion was just a “life raft” for some businesses. He had also acknowledged how the economic shutdown had simply paralyzed the entire nation. “We’ve got to get back open, but this is just a lifeline that will tide us over,” the lawmaker said.

However, instead of casting that “life raft,” Norman believed that the Democrats had instead embellished the previous economic relief package with “Christmas tree ornaments” or what some have called Pelosi’s wish list. The lawmaker also mentioned the millions of dollars spent on bizarre and unrelated causes, such as $25 million for the Kennedy Center, and a whopping $75 million for National Arts.

The lawmaker reminded Democrats that the main issue was about fighting, and mitigating the deadly coronavirus. “This is about saving lives, and the fact that [Democrats] are even attempting this is shameful,” Norman remarked. He went on to say that the GOP’s goal was to highlight the national and economic crisis, while the Democrats went the other way. He also remarked how the Democrats had attempted to include “electoral changes” to the legislation, which includes $2 billion to fund Pelosi’s “voting by mail.”

Finally, the lawmaker concluded that the Democrats had smeared “blood on their hands.” He urged the opposition to take in accountability, and tell those who have lost their jobs that they cannot feed their families. Norman added that the Dems’ action was both a “shame” and a “disgrace.”

Currently, both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that they refuse to back down unless the administration gave in to their demands over the coronavirus relief bill.

In a joint statement, both Pelosi and Schumer changed their tune. They claimed that the new relief package must include: support for families who rely on food stamps, hospitals, and, most importantly, aid for small businesses, which Pelosi and her own tag team had successfully blocked.
