It seems that former President Obama had some reservations about his former vice president being chosen as the official nominee of the Democrats. According to an anonymous Democrat, Obama warned his party during the primary that Biden could “f*ck things up.” That seems to answer the question of why Obama waited until the last minute before he backed his former vice president. People expected him to endorse Biden immediately, but that did not happen right away. This quote was first reported by Marc Caputo of Politico. It really shows that Biden was not the candidate that they would have chosen.

“One Democrat who is neutral in the 2020 race and spoke to Obama about Biden’s gaffe-prone nature recalled the former president saying: ‘Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up,’” wrote Caputo in the article. That has been reported for several months, but it was brought up again recently when it was recalled that Obama actually supported Clinton and not Biden. These divisions within the Democratic party are now becoming more obvious as the Democratic National Convention is in full swing.

Details are starting to surface on how Obama actually tried to discourage Biden from running for the presidency back in 2016. He knew that his vice president has a lot of liabilities, which would be a real disadvantage when running for the White House. Even back then, Biden was already a gaffe machine who was prone to say embarrassing stuff but now that has been furthered amplified by the fact that Biden is suffering from obvious cognitive decline which is not helping his performance.

It is still a mystery why the Democrats decided to choose Biden when they had other choices. He was the worst option to pick. Not only is he suffering from cognitive decline making him a ticking time bomb who could say something embarrassing at any moment, but he is also facing credible allegations of sexual assault. His political track record has no redeeming value either since he served decades as an official with no notable accomplishment, except to pass laws that made the lives of minorities more difficult.

It’s unsurprising why Obama will have second thoughts about endorsing him.
