Signifying that he is leaning further into the radical left, Biden just proposed his own Green New Deal should he win in November. The former vice president is proposing to spend up to $2 trillion to remake the United States’ energy infrastructure. His proposal is meant to address environmental and climate justice better. He released his proposal on Tuesday. The proposal has been heavily influenced by the unity task force that he created with Bernie Sanders, who has lost twice in his bid to become the Democratic party’s presidential nominee.

The ambitious and poorly thought-out plan is considerably bigger than what he had proposed to spend on the same nebulous project, which is not a priority for most Americans. Last year he said he would spend $1.7 trillion in a span of 10 years. Now he plans to spend more than that within a four-year period. He laid out the projects that are involved in the proposal.

He is proposing to have a highly unrealistic 100% clean-electricity standard by 2035. That means all energy production in the country will be carbon-free. It’s unclear how Biden plans to achieve that since 63% of all eclectic production in the country comes from plants that run on coal and natural gas. He also plans on creating millions of jobs by encouraging the production of electric or hydrogen-fueled vehicles. He plans to incentivize those who would trade in their old vehicles for the ones that run on new technology. He also proposes to establish an Environmental and Climate Justice Division within the Department of Justice to track down and prosecute corporations that pollute the environment.

The proposal has been compared to Green New Deal by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY). It’s highly impractical and would lead to devastating job losses among ordinary Americans. Biden is just pandering to the radical left with his ridiculous proposal that, if it ever gets implemented, can cause more hardships than it can resolve.

The problem with radical proposals like that to fight the so-called climate justice is that it does not take into account the main polluters in the world today. Countries like China are doing more harm to the environment now, and implementing a Green New Deal will not change that.
