Actress Alyssa Milano Pushes To Defund LAPD By 90 Percent
Actress and staunch far-left activist Alyssa Milano is attacking the union that represents the rank and file members of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). She is also promoting an effort called “People’s Budget LA,” from Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists, which pushes to defund the LAPD by 90 percent.
On Monday, Milano tweeted her attack on the LA Police Protective League, saying it was a “narrow special interest group” that only lobbies politicians to protect LAPD’s budget. She also added the hashtag #ProtectPeopleNotPolice.
What is the Los Angeles Police Protective League? @LAPPL is a narrow special interest group that lobbies our politicians to protect the LAPD budget, pension + officers. But electeds need to #ProtectPeopleNotPolice. Sign the #PeoplesBudgetLA petition: https://t.co/d2h2JS6NyU

Even LA Mayor Eric Garcetti pushes his anti-police rhetoric and plans to defund the police department in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the nationwide Black Lives Matter protests and riots. Last week, the city council voted to cut the department’s budget by a whopping $150 million. However, to BLM activists and Alyssa Milano, $150 million simply wasn’t enough, so they keep on pushing for further drastic budget cuts.
BLM LA leaders have launched an alternate plan called the People’s Budget LA that aims to take the majority of the LAPD budget to be redirected to community safety efforts and other initiatives. The People’s Budget LA calls for the department’s funding to be cut down to a mere 1.64% of LA’s general spending, representing a total of 90% reduction in LAPD’s budget.
The Los Angeles Police Protective League is not a union; it's a gang. It buys off politicians, intimidates critics and covers up the crimes of its members. This band of bullies won't silence us. We will expose them and stand in our power. #ProtectPeopleNotPolice #PeoplesBudgetLA pic.twitter.com/1WXQb0J8Db

“The LAPPL is a major obstacle to defunding the police and reimagining public safety—our goal is to highlight this,” organizers of BLM LA said on the People’s Budget LA’s official website.
Milano, a supporter of the BLM protests and of anything far-left, tweeted, calling on her followers to sign a petition supporting the People’s Budget LA.
Today at 12PM we have a Twitter Storm led by Black Lives Matter Los Angeles (BLMLA) and targeting the Los Angeles Police Protective League. Please find all of the information that you need to participate in the twitter storm at: https://t.co/9AnQR08uwu. Please participate!

LA has been facing multiple issues in recent weeks following the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and riots actively happening across the city. Last week, it was reported that LA had been hit by a second wave of coronavirus cases, which are likely caused by the massive protests.
