Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti blamed racism for the serious problem with homelessness that his city is dealing with. Garcetti was speaking at a press conference which was meant to discuss the city’s progress when it comes to handling the homeless crisis.

“Institutional racism is a leading cause of homelessness in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles County, where 8 to 9 percent of the population is African American, a third of all people experiencing homelessness are black,” the mayor said. Garcetti cited several examples of how racism is making the homeless crisis in his city worse. He claims that the problem goes back to decades in the past, with black veterans of World War Two being discriminated against. He also said that blacks were prevented from buying property through residential covenants.

Los Angeles city has seen a huge increase in the number of homeless people in its streets. Last year, the number rose to nearly 60,000. The increase in the number of homeless people living in squalid living conditions has raised the concerns that diseases like the bubonic plague could start spreading among them.

Garcetti has promised to deal with the homelessness problem in his city but has consistently failed to do anything about it. Now, he’s just blaming racism, which seems to be the go-to reason for the leftists and the Democrats whenever there is a problem they cannot solve. It is not just Los Angeles that is suffering from the homelessness problem. The state of California is the only state where homelessness is actually rising. Other cities in the state are also having a hard time.

The homeless problem in San Francisco is so serious that they actually have a “Poop Patrol” that is tasked with cleaning up the excrement left by the homeless people in public spaces. The one thing in common with most of the cities that have a homeless problem is that they have Democrats for leaders.
