President Donald Trump owned another leftist reporter on Friday during a press briefing. CBS News correspondent Weijia Jiang asked President Trump regarding White House senior adviser Jared Kushner’s comments, where he called the national stockpile of medical supplies “our stockpile.” President Trump dismissed her question and said that it was just a “gotcha question.” He also said the question was basic and obvious. He also accused Jiang of asking the question in a nasty tone, and he added that she should be ashamed of herself.

There is controversy regarding Kushner’s statement because it seems that the administration is denying the stockpile of medical supplies from the state governments. President Trump clarified the statement, saying that the word “our” refers to the whole country, the United States and that the medical supplies will be distributed to the whole country and to the states that will need it.

The United States is starting to run low on medical supplies now that the government is ramping up its response on the coronavirus. In a highly controversial move, President Trump has banned American companies from exporting medical supplies. The move was a way to ensure that hospitals and health workers in the United States will have adequate supplies and equipment to fight the pandemic.

He signed a directive that invoked the Defense Production Act, which is a law that dates back to the Korean War. The law gives the President wide-ranging powers to compel American corporations to produce products that are needed by the country during a time of crisis. The directive was aiming to prevent the export of essential items like gloves, N95 respirators, surgical masks, and other types of personal protective equipment (PPEs).

The government is now taking actions against hoarding and the illegal increase in prices of essential supplies. Through the directive, the government is able to take custody of thousands of essential supplies.
