Kanye West, the outspoken and controversial rapper, has been a surprising Trump supporter and voice of reason in the African American community since the 2016 election. In a recent radio interview the husband of Kim Kardashian had some frank talk for his community and their relationship to the Democrats.

In an interview with famed hip hop radio host Big Boy, Kanye was asked about his support for President Trump. Kanye answered by saying it is not smart for African Americans to vote en masse for the Democrats. “You are quite easily controlled if they know everybody gonna be blue [Democrat],” he explained. “If you go to a white [person] bar, you gonna hear people talking Independent, you gonna hear people talking Democrat, you gonna hear people talking Republican.”

He continued with even stringer words for Democratic politicians who he believes are exploiting the black community. Kanye continued, “We’re [the black community] brainwashed out here, bro. Come on, man. This is a free man talking. Democrats had us voting for Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about guns in the 80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort children.”

Big Boy continued to press Kanye about his support for President Trump asking him if endorsing Trump was akin to endorsing racism. Kayne responded, “The most racist thing a person can tell me is that I’m supposed to choose something based on my race.”

This interview has predictably spawned outrage from the left. People on social media roasted the rapper after the interview for everything from his mental health issues to being a white supremacist.

The reaction was not all negative though. There were some Kanye fans on social media who praised him as a free thinker and implored others to listen to the interview and what he has to say before making up their mind and “canceling” Kanye.
